Presenting GNOME 2.30.1 for FreeBSD. The offical release notes for this release can be found at http://library.gnome.org/misc/release-notes/2.30/ . This release brings initial PackageKit support, Upower (replaces power management part of hal), cuse4bsd integration with HAL and cheese, and a faster Evolution. Sadly GNOME 2.30.x will be the last release with FreeBSD 6.X support. This will also be the last of the 2.x releases. The next release will be the highly-anticipated GNOME 3.0 which will bring with it a new UI experience. Currently, there are a few bugs with GNOME 2.30 that may be of note for our users. Be sure to consult the UPGRADING note or the 2.30 upgrade FAQ at http://www.freebsd.org/gnome/docs/faq230.html for specific upgrading instructions, and the up-to-date list of known issues. This release features commits by avl, ahze, bland, marcus, mezz, and myself. The FreeBSD GNOME Team would like to thank Anders F Bjorklund for doing the initual packagekit porting. Presenting GNOME 2.24 for FreeBSD. See http://library.gnome.org/misc/release-notes/2.24/ for the general release notes. On the FreeBSD front, this release introduces Fuse support in HAL, adds multi-CPU support to libgtop, WebKit updates, and fixes some long-standing seahorse and gnome-keyring bugs. The documentation updates to the website are forthcoming. This release features commits by adamw, ahze, kwm, mezz, and myself. Presenting GNOME 2.14.1 for FreeBSD! Checkout http://www.gnome.org/start/2.14/ for the official release notes, and a list of all the gooides in this new release. In particular, GNOME 2.14 focused on performance, and they did not miss the mark. There's some new eye candy, but most of the big things are waiting until GNOME 2.16. On the FreeBSD side, we tried to clean up all the crashers we could. In particular, we really improved GNOME's 64-bit support. The good news is that this release does not bring any big shared library version bumps, so you can almost do a simple portupgrade to get to 2.14. There are a few minor gotchas that will be documented in UPDATING shortly. The FreeBSD GNOME Team would like th thank the following users for their patches, feedback, and sometimes incessant complaing about crashes (you know who you are). Presenting GNOME 2.12 for FreeBSD. The release is chock full of bug fixes and new features. Don't believe me? Then see for yourself at http://www.gnome.org/start/2.12/notes/en/. DO NOT USE portupgrade by itself to upgrade to GNOME 2.12. Instead, use the gnome_upgrade.sh script from http://www.marcuscom.com/downloads/gnome_upgrade212.sh. This script will circumvent some potential pitfalls users can see if they use portupgrade by itself. In keeping with tradition, GNOME 2.12 for FreeBSD comes with a special splash screen. The winner of this release's contest is Dominique Goncalves <dominique.goncalves@gmail.com>. His splash screen was inspired by http://art.gnome.org/contests/2.12-splash/83. The FreeBSD GNOME Team would lank to thank the following users for their contributions to this release: Matthew Luckie <mjl@luckie.org.nz> ade sajd on #freebsd-gnome Caelian on #freebsd-gnome mnag Yasuda Keisuke <kysd@po.harenet.ne.jp> Mark Hobden <markhobden@gmail.com> Sergey Akifyev <asa@agava.com> Andreas Kohn For more information on GNOME on FreeBSD, checkout http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/. The 2.12 documentation will be posted shortly.

Presenting GNOME 2.10 for FreeBSD! The release notes can be found at http://www.gnome.org/start/2.10/notes/rnwhatsnew.html, and will give you a good idea of what has gone into this release overall. However, a lot of FreeBSD specific additions and fixes have been made. For example, this release offers fixed ACPI support as well as new CPU freqeuncy monitoring support. See the FreeBSD GNOME 2.10 upgrade page at http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/docs/faq210.html for the entire list as well as a list of known issues and upgrade instructions. GNOME 2.10, as well as all of our releases, would not be possible without the great team that goes into porting and testign each and every component. Thanks definitely goes out to ahze, adamw, bland, kwm, mezz, and pav for all their work. We would also like to thank our adventurous users that chose to ride the walrus. We'd especially like to thank the following users that provided patches for GNOME 2.10: ade Yasuda Keisuke Franz Klammer Khairil Yusof Radek Kozlowsk And anyone else I may have accidentally omitted. As with GNOME 2.8, 2.10 comes with a brand-spankin' new splashscreen courtesy of Franz Klammer. However, unlike GNOME 2.8, we've included all of the FreeBSD GNOME splashscreen entries with gnomesession. You can use the deskutils/splashsetter port to choose the one you like best. As always, GNOME users should _not_ use portupgrade alone to upgrade to 2.10. Instead, get the gnome_upgrade.sh script from http://www.FreeBSD.org/gnome/gnome_upgrade.sh. Enjoy!

- Split libgsf port to two standalone ports: * devel/libgsf is the old port minus gsf-gnome bits * devel/libgsf-gnome contains libgsf-gnome-1 library and it's header files This greatly reduces number of dependencies for ports that was using only non-gnome part of this library. - Point USE_GNOME parameter libgsf to GNOME-less port and create new parameter libgsf_gnome for libgsf-gnome port. - Convert all consumers of libgsf-gnome-1 library to depend on libgsf-gnome port (read all as: Gnumeric) PR: ports/63851 (in the spirit of) Submitted by: Sybolt de Boer <sybolt@xs4all.nl> Prodded by: lofi (KDE team) Reviewed by: marcus (GNOME team)
