Update all PostgreSQL ports to latest version.
Remove postgresql-contrib in favour for postgresqlNN-contrib.
This way we will get packages built, which is nice.

Security: CVE-2010-1170
The PostgreSQL Project today released minor versions updating all active
branches of the PostgreSQL object-relational database system, including
versions 8.4.4, 8.3.11, 8.2.17, 8.1.21, 8.0.25, and 7.4.29. This release
fixes moderate-risk security issues with PL/perl and PL/tcl, as well as
a data corruption issue with standby databases. Users of any of these
three features should update their PostgreSQL installations immediately.
The PL/perl security fix closes a security hole in PL/perl
procedures which could allow privilege escalation on the host system,
caused by a flaw in Safe.pm; see CVE-2010-1169 and CVE-2010-1447 for
details. A second patch prevents PL/tcl's pltcl_modules table from
being subverted in order to run arbitrary Tcl scripts; see
CVE-2010-1170. These issues only affect users who have enabled either
of these two stored procedure languages.
Also corrected is use of the command ALTER TABLE SET TABLESPACE, which
previously could cause data corruption on Warm Standby database slaves.
This issue affects only version 8.4.
There are also 21 other bug fixes in this release, some of which apply
only to version 8.4, and a few of which are specifically for Windows.
While these are generally fixes for minor issues, among the changes are:
* Fix for a combinational crash condition
* Prevent normal users from resetting some GUCs in
their own role definitions
* Correctly apply constraint exclusion in UPDATE and DELETE queries
* Minor fixes for WAL archiving
* Update timezone data for 12 zones

Update PostgreSQL to latest versions. URL: http://www.postgresql.org/about/news.1055 The PostgreSQL Project today released updates to all active branches of the PostgreSQL object-relational database system, including versions 8.3.6, 8.2.12, 8.1.16, 8.0.20 and 7.4.24. These updates include two serious fixes, for autovacuum crashes in version 8.1 and GiST indexing data loss in 8.3, and those two versions should be updated as soon as possible. These update releases also include patches for several low-risk security holes, as well as up to 17 other minor fixes, depending on your major version of PostgreSQL. Included as well are Daylight Savings Time changes for Nepal, Switzerland and Cuba. See the release notes for full details. The first serious issue affects users who are using version 8.1 with Autovacuum, which will fail when XID rollover is required. The second serious issue can cause data loss when CLUSTER is used with GiST indexes (such as full text indexes) on version 8.3. Both issues are fixed in these releases.

Updates of the PostgreSQL ports
Updates for all maintained versions of PostgreSQL are available today:
8.3.3, 8.2.9, 8.1.13, 8.0.17 and 7.4.21. These releases fix more than
two dozen minor issues reported and patched over the last few months.
All PostgreSQL users should plan to update at their earliest
convenience. People in affected time zones, in particular, should
upgrade as soon as possible.

Update PostgreSQL to 7.3.19, 7.4.17, 8.0.13, 8.1.9 and 8.2.4 respectively: The PostgreSQL Global Development Group has released updated versions for PostgreSQL 8.2 and all back versions to patch a privilege escalation exploit in SECURITY DEFINER functions. All users of this feature are urged to update to the latest minor version and follow instructions on securing these functions as soon as possible. This minor release also contains other fixes, so all users should plan to deploy it. Once you have updated, additional steps are required to secure your database against the exploit. Please read the release notes at http://www.postgresql.org/docs/8.2/static/release.html and the TechDocs article at http://www.postgresql.org/docs/techdocs.77 on how to lock down your security definer functions, if you use them. As always, application of a minor release does not require a dump and reload of the database. A critical fix repairs an error in ReadBuffer that can cause data loss
due to overwriting recently-added pages. This applies to the 8.1 and
8.0 branches on all platforms.

Mass-conversion to the USE_AUTOTOOLS New World Order. The code present in bsd.autotools.mk essentially makes this a no-op given that all the old variables set a USE_AUTOTOOLS_COMPAT variable, which is parsed in exactly the same way as USE_AUTOTOOLS itself. Moreover, USE_AUTOTOOLS has already been extensively tested by the GNOME team -- all GNOME 2.12.x ports use it. Let postgresql (libpq.so) only link with the Kerberos implementations installed from ports. The base heimdal distribution installs libraries that have no depenency information. While this is quite correct, it means that each library that links with libpq.so must also know if libpq.so is linked with libkrb.so et al. Problem is, there's no good way to get this information (pg_config has a --libs option starting at version 8.1) and all ports using postgresql must be changed to make it possible to link with a libpq.so that was configured to use the Kerberos implementation installed in /usr by default. Hence, we require one of the ports (heimdal or krb5) if postgresql is to be linked with Kerberos. At least for now, until we can fix this in some better way. Also, if MIT Kerberos (security/krb5) is installed, users should ideally remove the base heimdal installation so linkers will not pick it up in preference to the krb5 libs (base heimdal has higher version numbers than krb5 port). Indexes will be dynamically converted to bitmaps in memory when
appropriate, giving up to twenty times faster index performance
on complex queries against very large tables.
Table Partitioning:
The query planner is now able to avoid scanning whole sections
of a large table using a technique known as Constraint
Exclusion.
Shared Row Locking:
PostgreSQL's "better than row-level locking" now supports even
higher levels of concurrency through the addition of shared
row locks for foreign keys.

Fix security alert using a patch from PostgreSQL's CVS repository: Prevent overrunning a heap-allocated buffer if more than 1024 parameters to a refcursor declaration are specified. This is a minimally-invasive fix for the buffer overrun. Define LATEST_LINK to avoid package name clashes between the different branches of PostgreSQL. [1] (Since postgresql-tcltk is hardwired to branch 7.4, keep its LATEST_LINK to a generic value.) In order to address a potential security hole recently identified with the "LOAD" option, the PostgreSQL Global Development Group is announcing the release of new versions of PostgreSQL. Update to 7.3.9, 7.4.7 & 8.0.1. Take the opportunity to reset PORTREVISION of slave ports. Back out name change of startup script. The new script uses rc.subr(8), and as such also uses rcorder(8). Work around the way in which the package building cluster validates ports by defining LIB_DEPENDS for the BATCH defaults in the Makefile. Misc. changes and cleanups. * Move the call to configure.postgresql7 from pre-fetch to pre-extract, so it won't hang while performing batch fetch operations (like portupgrade -F) * Add some TCL related files to pkg-plist.tcl, and add a PLIST_SUB in the Makefile to register the correct tcl version in the plist. * Do not start postgresql if the database directory does not exist: the startup sequence could hang because of this. * Use the "-s" option when starting postgresql with pg_ctl, so it won't display informational messages. ldconfig PostgreSQL's lib should happen before starting *ANY* ports. This would cure headache like apache module linking against libpq fail to work after rebooting. Originally, maintainer and I want this commit to go with the PostgreSQL updating. But we both think that the latest PostgreSQL would not be released before FreeBSD 4.3-RELEASE ports freeze. Make the port more "package friendly". Do not call initdb from Makefile's post-install. Users are required to manually run initdb, maybe after configuring their preferred database location in pgsql's user .profile. pkg_add used to simply replace some existing data files. Add pkg-message to tell the user about initdb. Remove 2 empty directories from pkg-plist (pgsql/include/port/freebsd, pgsql/include/port), since they are not included in "make package" anyway and cause pkg_deinstall to complain about the plist. Remove all pgsql/data contents from pkg-plist, so "make deinstall" and pkg_delete won't clobber existing databases. Minor version upgrades can now be performed by means of pkg_delete and "make install", without using pg_dump. Chown %D/pgsql/lib to root:wheel to satisfy ldconfig's recent security requirements. Change @dirrm of pgsql to "@unexec rmdir": pkg_deinstall won't complain if data still exists in that directory at deinstall time. Approved by: maintainer

- remove the ampersand, postmaster process automatically goes into background because of the -S option. - remove the -D datadir option, it's meaningless, because the pgsql user environment overwrites it with the PGDATA env variable. Since this is important and might cause some headache, I mentioned this in ~pgsql/.profile and the startup script. Submitted by: John Fiber

make pgaccess finally work ;-) - in order to access the template1 database as pgsql user, the environment needs the DISPLAY variable set to at least ":0" - pgaccess loads dynamically the libpgtcl.1, some symbols from another dynamic lib are needed as well -> libpq.so.1.0 Makefile (patch-af) modified (copied from the Linux clause), so that shared lib libpgtcl is created with proper loader flags.

make USE_TCL=yes compiles libpgtcl subdir which is needed for building the tcl/tk based database frontend pgaccess. For an updated version of this tool a separate port will follow. Please test these changes well, so that we get a nice PostgreSQL 6.2 version up and running "b4" port freeze ;-)

Upgrade from version 6.1.1 to 6.2 Please note: when performing a migration to 6.2 and you have an existing db, then you have to use the *new* pg_dumpall script that comes with this new postgresql release. The INSTALL file points this out explicitely !!! Changes: - startup script resides in FILESDIR - renamed it to be in sync with INSTALL file from sources - always install this startup script over an existing, because of the nature of the rc.d directory I can't install it to pgsql.sh-dist, if a pgsql.sh is already presend ... - portlint detected trailing whitespace, usage of perl with absolute path, usage of echo instead of ECHO and plenty things of this kind - post installation notes updated, mentioned the mailing list - copies the html pages as well to the share/doc directory (new manual dir) - had to update PLIST - shortened DESCR file, to match the 24 lines - added post build target, that reminds the admin how to proceed when already having a database -> INSTALL file describes migration - updated manpages

- Add shared lib using ldconfig -m before trying to init databases - Added missing ldconfig -m in startup file - Modified pgsql user environment - Make port NOPORTDOCS aware - Add additional port docs to post-install target and updated PLIST - recursively change owner of pgsql directory after creating .profile, so that .profile can be modified by the pgsql user. Hope everything is fine now.

- variable reorganization and cleanup
- remove NOMANCOMPRESS conditional in favour of MAN?=
- prevent import of installing user's $PATH into ${PREFIX}/pgsql/.profile
- change package name to remove 'v'
- remove some of the latent bugs left over from the postgres95 port.

This port was *way* out of date, by 2 versions and represents a bad version to boot. Have updated the Master Sites listing to reflect where the current port actually resides, as well as added a few of the mirrors. Will work on bringing the port up to date as I figure out how ports work :( This should at least allow this port to be compiled using v1.08 now
